Abstract: The Wavelet Transform (WT) is employed here to discriminate multiple events contained in microearthquake. The WT decomposes the signal into well localized time - frequency compartments (or ''Heisenberg boxes'') that display the energy distribution over the time and frequency domains simultaneously, therefore providing a useful technique to characterize dispersion and attenuation of a seismic signal, as well as to identify multiple interfering events. This letter suggests that the WT could provide a useful tool to analyze complicated seismic signals, especially to detect the multiple events contained in microearthquake seismograms.
