SONY'S NEW REARVISION (TM) TV SYSTEM HELPS
HEAVY TRUCK AND VEHICLE OPERATORS WATCH THEIR BACKS,'
REDUCE DRIVING WORRIES

Sony Cameras Enhance Low-Light Visibility

MONTVALE, NJ, November 30, 1992-- Heavy truck and vehicle operators
who commonly face the anxieties of "blind spots," tight-space
maneuvering, passing small cars at night and negotiating wide turns,
will benefit from the enhanced low-light visibility and larger-screen
view offered by Sony Corporation of America's new RVTV (TM)
RearVision (TM) camera/monitor system.

Sony's RearVision System (model no. YM-X7RVAM) provides drivers with
full rear views on a wide- angle, dash-mounted monitor that reveals
possible dangers side-mounted mirrors might miss. The system
includes: one (or two) compact, high-sensitivity all-weather cameras;
a high-contrast, seven-inch non-glare-screen monitor; and equipment
such as carnera microphone, a monitor hood, water-resistant cable and
screen perspective guideline stickers.

NEW VISION FOR TIGHT SPACES

Views displayed on the new RearVision System facilitate backing into
tight spaces and provide early wariing of routine driving hazards
such as motorcycles, bicycles, tail-gaters and cars passing through a
driver's "blind spot." A microphone built in to the camera lets the
deiver hear all the camera sees, including spoken directions,
approaching vehicles and early warnings of theft or vandalism.

NEW LOW-LIGHT SENSITIVE CAMERA

Sony's new SSC-520AM camera features enhanced light sensitivity for
clear image quality even in extreme low-light conditions. Sony has
enhanced its solid-state CCD (Charge Coupled Device) imaging system
with an advanced HyperHAD (TM) sensor to capture a maximum amount of
light. A tiny light-focusing lens positioned over each lens pixel
gathers, concentrates and focuses incoming light precisely toward
the photosensor's active imaging area. Overall sensitivity is
dramatically increased, revealing marginal-light details previous
cameras might have missed.

In addition, Sony's HyperHAD CCD technology minimizes the vertical
smear or "blooming" effect reducing the distortion that results from
high-intensity light sources in low light conditions.

Other features of the camera include a wide-angle lens that provides
a viewing angle of 100 degrees horizontally and 80 degrees vertically.
A single-cable connection links power, video and audio unobtrusively
to the dash- mounted monitor.

LARGE HIGH-CONTRAST MONITOR

Sony's new RVTV RearVision system also features a large SSM-721AMR 7"
B/W monitor. The monitor features easily accessible controls and a
high-contrast image to provide more visual information with less eye
fatigue.

Designed for mounting in motor vehicles, the monitor includes a non-
glare screen and hood, and camera controls to switch from one camera
to an optional second camera. Features also include: a built-in
speaker to receive camera audio signals, extra-sharp 380- line picture
resolution to reveal small details, a mirror-image view that
duplicates the familiar perspective of the rear view mirror, and
automatic back-up, which turns on the camera whenever reverse gear is
selected by the driver. The monitor operates on 12 volt/24 volt DC
input, with very low power consumption.

The Sony RVTV RearVision system is currently available and has a
suggested list price of $1,200.00
