Search Tips
Choose Your Options
Use only the search options that you need--leave the others blank.
Main Subject
Use this option to search words that need to appear in the title or subject keywords. For different word endings, use the ? wildcard. Example: REDUC? searches for reduce, reduces, reducing, reduction, etc. Combine words to get specific information. Example: FRICTION AND (REDUC? OR LOW?)
Words in Title
Enter words that appear in the title. You can use wildcards and combine words, as described above.
Entire Text (Abstract)
Use this option to search all words that appear in the abstract, title, or subject keywords. You can use wildcards and combine words, as described above.
Author
Enter the last name and the initial of the first name (if known). Example: O'CONNOR T
Author's Organization
You can search by the organization, company, or institution where the author is located. Use this option by itself to locate articles by all authors at an organization or use it to focus your search by author, especially when the author has a common name. For some articles, only the first author is searchable. Enter the most important words in the organization name and allow for abbreviations. Examples: LAWRENCE BERKELEY OR LBL and UNIV? CALIF? AT SANTA BARBARA
Publication
Enter the full name of the journal or proceedings, for example: IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING
